British Steam merchant "Samala"

At 10.13 hours on 30 Sep 1940 the unescorted Samala (Master Albert Edward Harvey) was hit amidships by one torpedo from U-37 west of Ireland. The U-boat did not wait until the ship sank to operate on a reported convoy, but fired a few rounds from the deck gun into the side to make sure that the ship will sink. The master, 64 crew members, one gunner and two passengers were lost.
